Evangelism
Sierra Leone is one of the most religiously tolerant nations in the world. Muslims and Christians collaborate and interact with each other peacefully. religious violence is rare in the country. The constitution of Sierra Leone provides for freedom of religion and the government generally protects this right and does not tolerate its abuse.
The Church is our entry point for community engagement. Mariatu’s Hope will work with the local Church to develop the WaSH committees. Church members, both men and women will be urged to participate as members of the WaSH committee.
Train and Equip 8 Pastors: Develop 14 new home groups in 2014
Mariatu’s Hope will identify one Lead Pastor. Working together with the local community Church and WaSH committees will identify one associate Pastor who is active in the target communities. The same will be done for each of the six remaining communities. They will be trained and equipped through a five day Leadership training workshop using approved training materials and methodologies that will support the activities of leadership, home group development and discipleship training. This training will take place in the class room and be reviewed in the field. Upon training completion the Pastoral team will be certified and approved by Mariatu’s Hope Executive Board for the implementation of the Evangelism activities.
Mariatu’s Hope pastoral team will forge strong relationships in each of their assigned communities. Each associate Pastor will be expected to encourage and help develop 2 home groups within their assigned community. The purpose of these home groups will be to edify, encourage and develop people through the hearing and studying of God’s Word and to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Study guides will be developed by the Pastoral team and be handed out along with study Bibles for each home group. Bible studies will be implemented in the home group setting and other teaching methodologies will be used such as orality. The Jesus video and other films are available and will be used often throughout these communities.
This home group activity will encourage people to become active Church members and participants. Church membership and attendance will increase along with a better understanding of discipleship and God’s word.
The Pastoral team will meet once a month for ministry prayer and to review progress and to discuss new ideas to help implement the full impact of
this activity.
